Friday: Clash of the Classes! – by Antony Rossi

Today’s the day! The final theme for Memorial Week 2017 is the annual “Class Day” which includes the beloved “Clash of the Classes” assembly! Each class, Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, were decked out head to toe in either gray, white, blue, or red attire! Some of the most notable outfits were from Seniors, one in particular from myself, Senior Antony Rossi, as I created my own Crusader helmet and a red shield donning the Memorial ‘M’. Though there was no real winner this year to Memorial Week, this was still the BEST “Class Day” we’ve ever had!

This year’s “Clash of the Classes” assembly was hosted by Mr. Creig Lessieur! We had many great games, and some amazing chants, however, what many students didn’t know until the assembly today, is that this was going to be Mr. Perich’s last “Class Day” with us here at Memorial, for he planned to retire at the end of this school year. Of course we love Perich as much as Perich loves Memorial, so we wanted to make this a memorable final “Class Day” for him.

At the end of the assembly, Mr. Lessieur handed the mic off to Mr. Perich so he could start one final Memorial cheer. “Give me an M! Give me an E! Give me an M! Give me an O! Give me an R! Give me an I! Give me an A! Give me an L! What’s that spell? Memorial! Louder! Memorial! M-E-M-O-R-I-A-L Wooo!” As underclassmen and upperclassmen alike, we as Crusaders will never forget Mr. Perich and hopefully he will never forget us! We ended the assembly with Senior Matt Meagher and Senior Riley Denver carrying out Mr. Perich on their shoulders!

Overall this was one of the most memorable “Class Days” and “Clash of the Classes” assemblies ever at Manchester Memorial High School, and definitely my favorite Memorial Week! Though the the entire week pits the four classes against each other, it’s important to remember that we’re all Crusaders, and with Mr. Peter Perich as a perfect example, once a Crusader, always a Crusader!20170421_160511
